Pumpkin Candles
I love these paraffin-free Halloween alternatives, I add a little spicy fragrance to mine so they smell delicious.
You will need:
- A mini pumpkin
- Beeswax
- Wooden candle wick or cotton wick
- Heatproof bowl
- Saucepan
- Scissors
- Wooden stick
- Spoon/scoop
- Fragrance oil ( optional )
Method:
Step 1: Slice the top of the mini pumpkin and scoop out the pulp and seeds. Leave to dry.
Step 2: Fill a medium saucepan with 4cm of water. Place over a medium heat and bring to a very gentle simmer. Place a heatproof bowl on top of the pan so that it fits snuggly but doesn’t touch the water. Lower the heat to a very gentle simmer. Add the wax and leave to melt, stirring regularly.
Step 3: Dip a wick into the melted wax and place into the centre of the pumpkin.
Step 4: Pour the rest of the melted beeswax into the pumpkin, leaving some of the wick sticking out.
Step 5: Leave wax to cool
Fancy a Healthy snack?!
Place the pumpkin seeds on a sheet tray with parchment paper. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and a little paprika, and roast them in a 375ºF oven until golden brown and crispy. Very tasty!
