Ajwain seeds are frequently used in Indian cuisine.

The seeds taste similar to oregano/anise and is often described as a fruity, "spicy," hot spice with a sweet, pleasant aftertaste. 

A little ajwain goes a long way so use fairly sparingly. Ajwain is often used to season oil or butter before combining with lentils or in savoury pastries and breads such as parathas.
