A great tasting plain scone mix.  For fruit scones this mix requires the inclusion of fruit.  For a savoury taste why not try with cheese!   Makes approx. 8 scones.

Scone Mix

500g scone mix

215g water.

Currants or sultanas optional

 

Method

Place the mix into a bowl with a beater.  Add the water and mix  ( by hand may work better ) or mix with cake mixer for 1 minute on speed 1.  Scrape down.  Mix for 2.5 minutes on speed 1.  Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and roll to 15mm thick.  Leave to rest for 5 minutes.  Cut scones to required size and place on a baking sheet.  Glaze with egg and leave to rest for 15 minutes.  Re-glaze prior to baking;

Note; ovens vary so please adjust times accordingly

Standard scones; 225C (440F) approx. 15mins

Large scones; 225C (440F) approx. 18 - 20mins

Wheat Flour (Wheat Flour, Calcium Carbonate, Niacin, Iron, Thiamin), Sugar, Vegetable Oil (Palm, Rapeseed), Raising Agents: Diphosphates, Sodium Bicarbonate; Buttermilk Powder, Dextrose, Soya Flour, Cornflour, Emulsifiers: Mono- and Diglycerides of Fatty Acids, Sodium Stearoyl-2-lactylate; Modified Starch, Salt.

Wheat Flour (Cereals Containing Gluten), Soya Flour (Soyabeans), Buttermilk Powder (Milk), vegetable oil, cornflower, Packed in an environment where all allergens are present.

Store between 10-25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
